Our Mission

The Mission of the Early Childhood Education Program is to prepare students for employment in the childcare industry. Scholars graduate with a National Child Development Associate Certification and Early Childhood Professional Certification. The scholar will be prepared to be in charge of children in a group setting.

Our Vision

We envision a dynamic career-focused program where students engage in authentic teaching experiences within a high school laboratory setting, building the skills, credentials, and confidence needed to pursue successful careers in early childhood education.

Course Description

This course focuses on preparing students to work with young children from infancy to age 8 in early education and childcare settings. Major areas of study include personal and professional growth; the early childhood profession; child development from birth to age 12; health, safety, and guidance; and opportunities in early childhood education. In addition to the coursework, work-based learning strategies appropriate for this course include field trips and job shadowing. You will work towards your National CDA, DCF testing and First Aid & CPT to be completed by the end of level 4.
